Styling my AmigaOS 4.1.6

Assassin's Creed games are great fun!
Hi again, people! It has certainly been a long while since i was writing an english-based Amiga blog, but now i'm back at that again!

Well, late 2013 has been a tough time for me, personally, especially dealing with the fact that my father, who has not been there for me and my family the whole life, is dying of cancer, which i believe i have mentioned.

He has a very short time left as it stands now, so all that left me with mixed feelings, as well as have been busy working at work.

There has been a great couple of updates to the AmigaOS 4.1.6 and some important programs.like SnapIT (the new screengrabber for AmigaOS4), a new version of FlipPaper (the new multi-changing Wallpaper tool) and latest version of AmigaAMP up to version 3.14 now!

Speaking of wallpapers. One of my many wallpapers, is a wallpaper of the Assassin's Creed games i love to play on my XBox 360. In April, the new XBox One will arrive Norway, and i am going to buy this one! It's great for entertainment, together with my AmigaOne 500 system!

So i am not in a hurry as the Quad-Core mid-range AmigaOne X3500 from A-EON Technology will most likely be released late this year or early 2015. In the meantime, i am still saving money for the X3500, even when i am buying the new XBox One in April, and i will still be using the best of my AmigaOne 500, so there is no need to hurry! AmigaOne 500 is still very good!

Blogger works perfectly with Odyssey!

Your dreamgirl awaits you by the pool!

Believe it or not, but with Odyssey 1.16, it is now fully possible to use Blogger to make blogs in Odyssey! Odyssey v1.16 is using an updated Webkit from 2011, while the latest v1.23 currently only for MorphOS, is using a new updated Webkit from 2013.

Do not hesitate. Version 1.23 is under porting to AmigaOS4 and AROS, thanks to the successful Bounty of 102% for Odyssey! However, version 1.16 is quite stable. Not perfect, but far better than the old Origin Web Browser (known as MUI-OWB).

Odyssey 1.16 is quite fast and can handle most sites without problems. Just take a look at the screenshot below!

Now i don't have to use TimberWolf to do the blogging. This can now be done without problems with Odyssey! Great, isn't it?

AmigaOne 500 Makeover

Sometime last month, i was receiving both my Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500GB internal harddrive and a Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 PCIe GPU card for my AmigaOne 500! Makeover was beginning!

Fitting the new graphic board was easy, but i got help installing the SSD drive, by taking out the ordinary harddrive. Luckily, i did a backup of all of my 4 main partitions, like AmigaOS, Work, Diverse and Spill, to external harddrive, then copied them into the new empty clone partitions on the SSD drive. Now the time had come to test these new equipments!

The SSD was both booting and running noticeable faster than an ordinary harddrive, and it was completely QUIET as well! Running operations happened instantly! Even the Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 PCIe graphic board proved the card to be quite fast, and it helps that the video ram is using GDDR5, making the graphic operations very fast!

Overall, my AmigaOne 500 is now a whole new baby! Faster, better and more efficient! Only the best is good enough for my baby! It's amazing how much better the system can become!

The new Reaction-based AHI preference

The new Reaction-based AHI preference program

As a matter of a wonderful surprise around a week ago, AmiUpdate brought up an update to the AHI preference program. The update brought up a new Reaction-based AHI preference, as an updated replacement to the old MUI-based version. Why is that?

Because AHI is part of AmigaOS4 since version 4.0, it is only natural that its' preference is Reaction-based, like most AmigaOS4 standard tools and preferences, so that is why the preference has been updated to use the Reaction-GUI.

Inside the preference, the functions are just the same as they were in the MUI-based one, but now it's much easier to see what driver and settings you are using for AHI.

As you can see, i am using the new HIFI 32 bit Stereo++ mode for the Envy24HT AHI driver that my 24 bit 192Khz ESI@Juli XTe PCIe card is using. The sound is truly fantastic beautiful! Loud, clean and clear like the cleanest crystal! It's THAT fantastic! You have to hear to believe it!

Styling the TrayDock with spaces

Styling the TrayDock's Mini-docks with spaces

My TrayDock with mini-docks has undergone a fine tune, while having yet another mini-dock, called SmartDock, which monitors the health of my SSD (Solid State Disk) drive. As it shows green LED, it therefore proves that my SSD is perfect!

As for fine tuning my TrayDock, i found out that it would look more natural and better by putting so-called Spacer dockies between some of the icons. As you can see, i have put 3 Spacer dockies. Now it looks great!

This will be all for now, but there will be more to write the next time, with hopefully more new stuffs, so watch this space!

Generally, i am very happy now with my

Amiga system! Both Internet, SSD, my audio card and the graphic board all make my AmigaOne 500 fly like a beautiful bird! It's very fast, very stable and very efficient! Only the best is good enough for my baby! Very happy now!

See you in the next blog in not too distant future!
